The quest for the ideal harness horse has always been the driving force behind Huntington Stud since its beginnings in 1975. To this end we purchased Xavier as a weanling in 2000 to further the dream. Watching him grow from a bright eyed, woolly baby into the fine baroque stallion he is today, has been a joy.
With his incredibly long wavy mane and tail and thick feathers flying, Xavier is well- known around Sydney and the Southern Highlands of NSW where he participates in a wide variety of ridden and driven activities. His achievements in the show ring are impressive with multiple champion awards in led classes, under saddle and in harness. Xavier is equally at home on trail rides and pleasure drives, always in mixed company
Today, Xavier frequently 'entertains ladies' in the breeding season. He stands at public stud to selected mares for the fee of $880 (incl. GST) He is our 'back-up' if the girls fail to go in foal to frozen or chilled semen. His youngsters are proving to be useful members of the horse world. Xavier can always be relied upon to behave perfectly when he goes out for a ride or drive despite being a working stallion.
Xavier was the beginning of our ‘love affair’ with the Friesian horse. Huntington Friesians now comprises three imported mares and two home-bred fillies. We breed a small number of foals each year and these are usually offered for sale.
Not many stallions in Australia are as versatile or accomplished as Xavier. He is the ‘whole package’….beautiful, talented, gentle and obliging….a true Friesian!
