2012 was an exciting year for our driving activities. Martyn broke Zanneke to harness in April then paired her with Fardau.
The ‘girls’ competed in three Shibumi Winter Classic events for two 2nds and finally, a 1st place. They were going so well, Martyn entered them in the NSW Level 1 Combined Driving Event held in November at ‘Witwood’, Braidwood. There they came a creditable 2nd.
Zanneke is currently in foal to our imported colt, Gerbe, for an October foal. We are looking forward to the arrival of that exciting baby which will be for sale.
Zanneke injured her hoof badly in February and sadly she will never be able to be used in harness again.

We attended the NSW keuring in April 2013. A keuring is an inspection where a  panel comprising an inspector and a judge from The Netherlands observe and classify registered Friesian horses for entry into the studbooks.
We were very pleased when our colt foal, Rikaardt H. was awarded a 2nd premie which puts him in the top 20% of Friesians worldwide. Rikaardt is for sale.
Despite his young age, Gerbe was inspected for the coveted Star status. He received very good comments about his type and conformation but due to being extremely uptight, he didn’t display his exceptional movement as well as he could. He wasn’t awarded Star but the inspector  advised us to present him again in 2015. So, it will be our mission to increase Gerbe’s outings and widen his exposure to different situations before the 2015 Keuring.

Xavier completed the driven IBOP Test at the keuring. He obtained 68 points but need 77 to pass the test.  We felt his result was quite good especially as the judges made a point of mentioning the heavy going in the arena. The test should have been driven on a grassed surface but because such an area was not available at the venue, the test was driven in a sand arena. This undoubtedly affected the outcome.

Martyn is planning to compete with our mares Metsje and Fardau at the Shibumi Winter Classics this year.
